NIAGARA FALLS : Cave of the Winds

We camped about 22 miles from the Falls in Lockport, NY.
"Niagara County Resort"

Our first sight of the falls was from our late afternoon drive out on Duck Island for a sunset view.
We spent about an hour there; OHhhhing , AHHHHing, huggin', squeezin' unbelievin'

The next day we bought something called the DISCOVERY PASS for $33 CN plus taxes. The pass book included the Maid of the Mist / Cave of the Winds / Trolley transportation,  Aquarium and the Discovery Center.

We didn't go to the Aquarium nor the Discovery center but used the tickets for the Maid of the Mist boat ride & for the Cave of the Winds which includes a  hike right up to the bottom of the falls on the U.S. side.
(There is no actual cave, by the way. It's just a name))
My knees really held out for me…..LOTS of stairs!
Up & down & across & all over the place.

We learned the stairs need to be rebuilt yearly. The harsh winters do them in.

OK, enough words about Niagara…the photos will speak for themselves.
These falls are at the top of our 5 star rating lists.
I cannot believe it took us so many years to finally see it!

These photos here are just of the Cave of the Winds
...Maid of the Mist will be in another post.

No, that's not a big yellow condom! It's just
someone  drying his  raincoat in the wind!

You can barely see Joey here in the upper right with the preggy lookin' front with his camera bag undercover.

That's Joey with the arms up in the air.

It's a Boy, no, it's a Girl, no it's a Camera Bag!

The reason we chose the Cave of the Winds before the Maid of the Mist was because of a tip our campground hostess gave us. At the Cave of the Winds they not only give you the rain coat but also the water shoes. The shoes will also be good for the Maid of the Mist later in the day.

I'm lucky the iPhone didn't get killed with all the mist. I was unable to take pictures in the best spots of course....THAT'S where it was wettest.
