Classic Trucks Tucumcari, New Mexico

A few days after the Solvang, Ca part of our trip. We drove eastward across I-40 through Arizona, New Mexico & the upper corner of the Texas panhandle above Amarillo.

We got off of the interstate to stay at an RV camp here in Tucumcari, NM & saw this gem of an old gas station with murals, old signs & trucks trucks trucks.

This is exactly the kind of surprise that we absolutely love as we travel along.
We dilly-dallied at this old gas station for at least  45 minutes.
We were the only ones around & had it all to ourselves.

Now you know why we often only average about 160 miles a day!

We needed to make a U-Turn to not miss this one! Not as easy as it sounds with a travel trailer in tow. We are about 37 feet long altogether.
Luckily the turning radius of our car & trailer is quite good & we actually make U-Turns more than we ever expected we would or could!

Once we learned we could....well, we do! It's always a little scary but satisfying. We are SURE glad we don't have a larger rig!
