Highland Living Village PART 2 Nova Scotia

...................CONTINUED
As we walked along the pathways we found a house where they were making ice cream & they were sharing.....YUM!

Then we went inside for a step back in time of "treasures".

Just a note: Nova Scotia means New Scotland.

.....and THIS was  really fun for us to watch them "Waulking" as they sing Scottish Songs.  Waulking is a procedure that makes stiff, newly woven cloth, nice & soft.
That's what these women are doing but below this etching I have a video
I took of men, women and children singing along as they "Waulk".

There's still more.....................There was a general store, of course.

The two gals in the lower right of the picture above kept making fresh corn-on-the-cob & serving it along with Lemon aid &
Scottish Shortbread.
We kept going back for more.
Hey, where's Joey? Well, he was taking all of the photos!

We'll have to work on that in the future.

Inside the Church they had a nice display of Quilts &  hand made linens.

On to the Blacksmith's:

I'm getting tired now so I'll make a short movie to cover the rest of the village. There were a few more building to see ....A weaving shed , The Barn, some animals & farm equipment along the pathways.

After leaving Highland Village we didn't get very far so we boon-docked on the mainland tonight near Port Hawkesbury just across the bridge from
Cape Breton Island
Because of our side trip to Highland Village we only drove  76 miles in today from our Baddeck Camp.
Tonight was only the 2nd night we've boon-docked on the whole trip. That's pretty rare for us.

The nights are now getting warmer.
Maybe it's because of Hurricane Isabel who is on her way and/or maybe hurricane Michel, also on the way .

Sep 9th Sunday.  I think our next camp near Peggy's Cove, SW of Halifax is about 170 miles from our boon-docking place.

We DID have rain during the night and awoke this morning to some fog & clouds. However, Not too bad for driving with the trailer in tow.
We were on our way at about 10:30 this morning after a leisurely morning.
We relaxed before leaving by having our coffee & yummy bran muffins from Sobey's grocery store. They have a great bakery. P.S. Much of their produce is from USA! (way more expensive than in California)

I also spent some time reading  the Cape Breton Newspaper & a magazine given to us from the Highland MUSEUM. The Highland magazine had some lovely stories about the early Scottish settlers.
The Cape Breton Newspaper  had updates on the Hurricanes too. Fingers crossed.

NEXT:  PEGGY'S COVE; I've heard so much about it & am very anxious for this experience.
